Knowing your audience and understanding who they are and what they are looking for on your website is imperative to making money blogging. You can't just try to sell anything to them, you have to understand them. If you get Google Analytics you can see things such as age, gender, location which can help you identify the type of people who are coming to your website. Once you know this and identify what they are looking for you can create content and products specific to these needs.
Building trust with your audience is the most important factor in having them convert into customers. If you want them to buy your products or click on your affiliate links your audience needs to trust what your promoting.
