8 Money Making Blog Tips

Have the right foundation

Ensuring your blog is run on a solid foundation is a crucial first step in monitoring your website. Without a solid foundation making money will not be easy.

Self hosting

To make money blogging you want to make sure you are set up with the right hosting. If your goals with your blog are to monetize it you will want to stay away from platforms like Wix and Squarespace. They don't allow full ownership of your site, they don't allow you to fully customize your website, and they arent the best for SEO.

I suggest self-hosting on Wordpress for the best monetization setup. There are various online places to purchase a domain so you are self-hosted some examples; GoDaddy, BlueHost, Siteground, LyricalHost. I use Bluehost and have had no problems with it. It is affordable and the customer service is great. Buying a domain here and self-hosting to WordPress will bring you one step closer to monetization.

Understand your audience

Knowing your audience and understanding who they are and what they are looking for on your website is imperative to making money blogging. You can't just try to sell anything to them, you have to understand them. If you get Google Analytics you can see things such as age, gender, location which can help you identify the type of people who are coming to your website. Once you know this and identify what they are looking for you can create content and products specific to these needs.

Build trust

Building trust with your audience is the most important factor in having them convert into customers. If you want them to buy your products or click on your affiliate links your audience needs to trust what your promoting.

Free content

One way to do this is with free content. With free content that is high quality and valuable you show your audience that they can trust you. And if your free content is good then they are more likely to pay for content.

Show results

To make your audience buy something you have to prove that its worth it. Show results and reviews from other people who have bought through you.

Market your content

You need your content to be seen in order to be monetized and bought. The best way to do this is by marketing it. The best ways to do this is digital:

  • Pinterest - BEST way to get viewers who help monetize your blog! Read more about Pinteresting Marketing here.
  • Instagram - Stories, posts, community building.
  • Facebook - Facebook pages, Facebook groups.
  • E-mail marketing - Mailchimp, Mailerlite.

Add affiliate links to your website

Affiliate links are a great way to make money from your blog. You can join a ton of affiliate networks that will give you links to add within your post that people can click on and you get a small comission from.

Some great networks are: Amazon, Share a Sale, Awin.

Put Ads on your website

Ad's are the best way to make passive income from your blog. I'm not talking about Google Adsense, this is messy and doesn't make you barely any money. Your best bet is to wait until you have 10,000 MPV to apply for Ezoic, or 25,000 sessions and apply for mediavine. These networks pay significantly higher! In my first month with Ezoic I made 100$ with only 11,000 MPV.

Invest in your blog

You have to spend money to make money! Spend on a good host, website speed, a nice theme.

Time Management

Manage your time. Spend more time focusing on creating high quality content over making money. With time money will come, but to make money you need to have a devoted audience that trusts you and has been fostered with time and energy.
